Biography of J.K. Rowling (appears on the books)

J.K. Rowling was born in 1967 in Wales. She followed her studies at the university of Exeter in Paris. She graduated in the French language and literature. She worked initially in London within International Amnesty association .

It is in 1990 that the idea of Harry Potter and his school of magicians started to germinate in her spirit . It's however only three years later that she started to write the adventures of the sorcerer's apprentice. Meanwhile, she left to teach in Portugal. Then, she got married with a Portuguese journalist and had a small girl, Jessica.

After the divorce, a few months later, she moved in Edinburgh. She lived then in a precarious situation. For six months, she was devoted to writing the book. The continuation resembles to a fairy tale. The first agent to which she had sent the manuscript retained it at once for publication. The book was then sold with the biddings in the United States for the largest advance never versed to an author for youth!

The first volume of Harry Potter met a phenomenal success in Great Britain and abroad. It was translated into thirty languages and twenty million specimens were sold in the whole world in 18 months. "Harry" gained the most prestigious prices, in all the countries where it was published. It's at the head of the sales for adult and children in Great Britain and in the United States. Following volumes do not cease confirming the success of the first.

Seven books on the whole are envisaged. J.K. Rowling will make grow, evolve and mature Harry: each one represents one year at the school of the wizards.

J.K. Rowling always lives in Edinburgh with her small daughter, being held as distant as possible media and success dazing from her books, in order to devote herself to the writing of the adventures of the small wizard.
